 Thought of the day: It turns out I have a lot more clothing in my closet than I thought (surprise!), but because of Pinterest, I've been able to put pieces together that I never would have thought: brown boots with black?  But when you look at it all together, it is still very reserved (almost boring?)...just like me.

I'm so rusty with posts, I can't even think of a witty post title (sigh). But in my opinion, here are a few things to write about: For only the second time this summer, I actually did my hair. Because I never do my hair, I was actually surprised with how much it has grown. I also remembered to take a picture of an outfit AND I'm posting it....so that's not nothing, right?

What can I say? I'm still obsessed with Pinterest, and  was thus "Pinspired" yesterday when I picked out my outfit.  I saw two outfits that resembled pieces I already own and thought I would borrow inspiration from the two photos to make one outfit. Mission accomplished!

Sometimes outfits look so much better in a poorly lit room and when only a medium size mirror to check an outfit is available.

Enter my bedroom where this outfit was born.

Then you see a picture and realize that this outfit that you were so proud of putting together will never be worn together again. 

You finally see that it is all wrong.

OH NO!

So now they are stuffed full of rags, sitting in front of the heater.  I'm hoping for a speedy recovery.

We shall see.

My Outfit Monday - Irish style

I made corned beef and cabbage for the first time today.  What can I say?  We love our Irish food.

So in honor of Ireland and our trip there in 2011, I also decided to wear my sweater purchased in Ireland.

I love this sweater, as it's the warmest (and most special ) I own.  I also love it because of the memories it brings to mind.

I've fancied colored tights for quite some time now.

Alas, I have finally pulled up my big girl panties and embraced them as a trend I can actually have fun with.

I feel like they add a little whimsy to an otherwise serious outfit.

This video (along with several others from the same user on YouTube) has been seen playing a lot on our laptops lately.  They are too funny and I because of these videos, I now have several new phrases to add to my everyday collection- one of them being "Fact!"

So in honor of the above video...some simple facts that can be learned from this picture:

So the other day, my very good friend and I showed up to a meeting with almost-identical outfits.

While my outfit included a light navy striped colored blazer, red tank and tan skirt, her outfit was a black blazer with white stripes, red tank and black skirt.

Oh, and we sat right by each other.

What can I say? We have a lot in common.

I've been going through a closet overhaul lately, deciding what to keep, what to show a little more love to and what to get rid of.  

So, why not show you what I've been digging out of the worm hole I call my closet and wearing?

(although, I realize now that some parts of these outfits may need to be changed or altered before they are worn out in the public again)

I finally found some yellow/gold shoes!!

My outfit Monday

I lost interest in putting outfits together, wearing any jewelry or trying to look cute.

What can I say? My activities this past month have not required much of an "ensemble."

There was a weekend of camping and wearing "camp clothes", then wearing scrubs all week for work, a weekend of being sick and laying around in my sweatpants and NO makeup, followed by another week of scrubs.

Last weekend, my attitude towards my wardrobe changed. We went out of town to visit some friends and ended up going to some places I probably should've dressed up for.  Since I was still stuck in "slob mode" I didn't.  I ended up packing outfits that ended up looking like I was still camping.

Embarrassing.

So today, I took some inspiration from both Pinterest (how pin-spiring (ha ha)..) and another source (not sure where this the second photo is from.)

I'm loving this striped skirt and think I will have fun making it a Fall/Winter skirt.  Oh the possibilities.  I also happen to own a bright yellow skirt and could maybe pair it with this same cardigan I'm wearing here for an outfit that more resembles the Pinterest outfit.  Again...oh the possibilities!

My photos still leave much to be desired

The location, focus and poses are just not right.

But to be honest, I can't promise improvements will be made anytime soon.

As with many other regular little posts I've done, I haven't shown "My outfit Monday" much love lately.

However, I promise you I have been wearing clothing...I just haven't documented the said outfits, usually because A) I'm running too late B) I forgot or C) My outfit was not worth sharing.

But Saturday I did put on an outfit I actually liked as I was going to a bridal shower and needed to look a little more dressed up than I normally am.

Not quite Summer here

Our weather has been weird here lately.

It has been in the 40s and 50s here with more rain and clouds than Spring could shake it's pretty little fist at.

But you won't find me complaining!  It means I can still wear jeans and cardigans (and hide my pudgy T-rex arms) without breaking into a "hot-flash sweat."

And that my friends, is some sweet satisfaction for me and others around me!

(no one likes to be around a hungry OR hot Whitney....just leave me alone!)

But enough of that.  How bouts an outfit post, since those have been few and far between?

Zebra-Whitney is back!

In a previous post I noticed my eye had been wandering to the "other print" otherwise known as cheetah.

While I did finally track down a cheetah print cardigan, that is as far as I got into the print.

I could never leave my first love: zebra print.

Today marks the 61st day of my "shopping detox."
(AAK! Has it really only been 11 days since my last post on this subject?! COME ON!!!  This thing is taking FOR-EV-ER...)
Since I'm on the subject of not shopping, I felt I should also inform you that I went to a town highly loaded in retail stores and did not buy one single article of clothing OR accessory.  Thank you.  Thank you very much!
I was and am pretty proud of myself, although Aaron is to be credited as well.
You see he text me to come pick him up at the exact moment I was briefly "checkin' out" the Jason Wu collection at Target.
Coincedence? Probably.....

It appears there is a week missing from this blog.

I could say that I have a really good reason for my abscence.

The computer deleted it.

I deleted it. 

Anything.

But I don't even have enough creativity cards stored in my wee little brain to make up a legit reason.

I flat out don't have one other than I did nothing of interest and was thus uninspired.

There! Are you happy now?

But I did get dressed....so I have that to start this week off right.
