Songs of the moment..

I'm pretty much obsessed with these songs.  The first is a cover of "Let me love you."  Believe it or not, it has a pretty incredible message!

(sorry for making you listen to this over and over and over again, Aaronius!!)

The second song I heard on satellite radio at work. Okay, really it was during lunch, at work...so I had a few minutes to listen to the lyrics, jot some down on a scrap piece of paper and google the pulp out of it.  This is what I found...I'm so glad I did and I feel that it is soooo cute!!

Woo-hoo! Hope you enjoyed at least one of the songs...'cause I sure do!

Saturday-Sing-A-Long

I stumbled upon this song, while reading another blog.
I instantly fell in love.
The group is the Honey Trees and the song? Moon River.
For those not acquainted with the song, I personally remember it from the movie
Breakfast at Tiffany's featuring the lovely Audrey Hepburn (an actress I like, but do not love due to her over the top dramatics....a little more realistic cry/sob would've been appreciated Audrey...)
Anyway, I digress....the song itself is lovely in its' own right and this duo makes it even more so!
The girls voice (and dress, ha ha) gives me chills every time I hear it.
Listen. Enjoy. Repeat.
(and have a good weekend!)

Hum day (get it? instead of hump day...haha)

There are far too many songs I've heard lately that I just had to share
(and I'm sure most of you have heard...most of them.)
First of all, I just heard this literally 5 minutes ago and it was love at first listen.

Grace Potter and the Nocturnals: Stars

The second one I've been visiting YouTube for since I heard it since hearing it on the Olympics is Phil Phillips "Home." At first I thought it was Mumford and Sons...but no, it was this guy.  Take a listen!

and last but not least: Ho Hey by the Lumineers

Hope you enjoyed this!

Things I look forward to

Do not be afraid, ye of faint heart!  For this post is not about to get deeper than deep- it seems to worry friends and family when I "go there."  Instead, this post in reality shall remain quite shallow.
You see, lately I've been looking forward, instead of behind.  In doing so, I've come across several things I just can't seem to wait for.
But before I start my little ramblings, how bout a song that I pretty much love right now?
I KNOW if any of you listen to any commercial radio stations, you've most likely heard it.
But I still can't stop humming it:

And now for the things I look forward to:

FALL
Don't hate me, but the first thing I'm dying to see is Fall...no let's call it Autumn (it's so much more romantic that way.)  Overall, I am not a fan of Summer.  I'm tired of the heat and the blazing sun....it's just so hot!! Instead, I look forward to Autumn and what it holds for me: Crisp mornings and warm afternoons; kids preparing to go back to school and all the amazing school supplies waiting to be picked up in the stores; layering on clothing, grabbing a camera and some hot cider and taking in the amazing sights while walking through the crunching leaves; coming home, bundling up and eating some pumpkin pie and watching the new Fall lineup on TV.  That is Fall in a nutshell.

Who could get tired of this? via Pinterest
GROWING THE OL' HAIRS OUT
Not that you can tell, but I've always been a bit obsessed with my hair.  My motto as far as hair goes is to grow it out just to cut it short.  I'd like to say I'm 100% a short hair or long hair person, but in reality, I'm both, with a little love for the medium length as well.  And now? I'm choosing to be short/medium.
I miss curling my hair and doing things with it.  It has been short for quite some time now!

As of today, this is kinda what I'm going for-but that could change anytime soon.
It always does.

TAKING A MUCH NEEDED TRIP
We haven't been on much of a trip since the early part of 2011.  Don't get me wrong, we have taken a few weekend trips here or there but none of them have quenched my thirst for travel.  Aaron and I have been talking over where we would like to go next.  Should we stick close to home or leave the country, or both?!
That's what we (and our checking account) are trying to decide.  A few options:
Canada
Alaska
or maybe go on a cruise somewhere a little more tropical

Virgin Islands are always an option...
LOSING WEIGHT...again
It is crazy how doing nothing, eating an awful lot and drinking beer regularly packs on the pounds.  But I am here to tell you it does.  I miss the energy and confidence I had when I was trying so hard almost a couple years ago now.  So here's to another year fighting the fight.  In roughly 6 months I will have another year of age to claim and another anniversary to celebrate.  Why not start both of those by feeling and looking good (or at least better). My goal is to be both healthy and way smaller than I am today.  Also to fit into every single article of clothing I've saved for when that day comes.  Here goes! Yay.

via..what else...Pinterest :)
That's it for now! I'll let you know when one of these things greets me first!
Have a good one!

Yay for new songs

Here's a new favorite song that I will most likely play over a million times
All. On. My. Own.

And based on a few of the other songs I just listened to, possibly a new favorite group?
There are some seriously good new bands out there.

Sing it to me!

The other day as I was standing next to Aaron at our bible study meeting and singing, I realized (again) what a good singing voice he has. I wait for him to start singing the song, then slowly join in.  I love it and love his voice.  It's one of life's little pleasure.  Anyway, this guys voice in the video reminded me how much I like when men actually sing and do so simply...not just yell or rap, or really even belt it out opera-style (although I have a healthy respect for that).  It's refreshing, and in my opinion, kind of a lost art.
Enjoy both the good song and the good singing, won't you?

P.S. Did I ever tell you Aaron was in a band and he was the lead singer?! I'll have to see if I can dig a song up!

Music Monday (double - time)

By now I'm guessing most of you have heard of the musician Gotye and the recent song played the most.  For those of you not acquainted, meet Gotye and his weird, weird mouth (and video too I guess....)

Well, the lovely lady, who's hair and makeup I love AND who sings with him is Kimbra and I'm kind of obsessed with her music right now.
Mostly this song:

After watching this video, I guess it and her Napoleon Dynamite dancing is not all that normal either.
Oh well.  Enjoy anyway, won't you?

To: Aaron

It's been a while since I've posted a song I can't wait to listen to over
and over
and over again...

This is one of them:

Sometimes, when it feels like things are tough and my little world is falling down all around me, it's nice to know that I will always have someone who won't give up on me.

Show and tell

I'm sure I must have done show and tell somewhere in my elementary school career
(clarification: as a wee student, not a teacher)
but I can't remember one to save my life.
So.....I thought I would make up for it and share with you a current favorite song I heard by a one Mr Jack Johnson- 'Imagine':

and then a video my sister told me about yesterday that cracks me up so very much:

Enjoy!

Sing-a-long Saturday

One of my guilty pleasures?
This song:
When I hear it, I just can't help myself.
My head nods to the beat and all my attention is directed to the song.
What can I say? Us older girls who look 12 have to stick together.

Sing along Saturday

This is another new to me and possibly old to you song.
Oh the joys of satellite radio in a small town where the same music has been played since the early '80s.
Can you say Bon Jovi- Bed of Roses?
I keep discovering music that will never- EVER- be played on our lame radio stations.
Oh well...at least I have the rest of the world to provide "new music."

Music to my ears...literally

So this bad boy (aka song) came into my music scene just last week while I was at work.
( Apparently it is not new at all.  I found out its almost a year old?)
All of the sudden I heard this song and I thought "I've gotta find out who this is."
Word on the street is that "this is" Taylor Swift.  While not usually a Swift fan, something about this song pulled me in.
WARNING: If you click on the "video" please feel free to do anything else.  It will just flash pictures of her and then the lyrics.  Not the greatest.
Unless of course this "video" is exactly what you want to do right this moment.

A song that makes you go "Ahh...."

I'd never heard this song until we were watching "Up All Night" last night and I loved it the instant I heard it.
Warning: The video is sweet and sappy and sad, so be prepared to tear up a bit.
I wasn't.  Prepared, that is.

Music on my mind

Maybe it's because I'm a bit older than I used to be
(it's a real phenomenon and it happens every day)
but I'm suddenly aware of all the different types of music out there:
Classical, soft rock, hard rock, fraggle rock (get it?), (c)rap, R&B, jazz....
I could go on and on and probably would if I wasn't so thirsty.
(I won't allow myself to get up and get the blasted drink until I finish this post.  FYI- Self- denial gets things done!)

Anyway, the point of the previous rambling was to introduce you to genres of music I'm more than sure you are well aware of AND to share with you some other ones that I have no idea what they are classified under.
Weird? Amazing?
Okay, okay...don't get too excited. Since I do live under a rock 362 days out of the year I'm suddenly wondering if you have already heard theses songs and you should be introducing them to me.
But I digress.
(Again)
SO LET'S GET TO IT!
Here's the first one I stumbled upon the other night and have obsessively been visiting YouTube to listen to it ever since:

And here is the other one I listen to on my way to and from work . A LOT :

And there ya' have it.
These are the current sounds in my head when I should probably be listening to other things -like traffic, my boss or maybe even Aaron.

Whew, now that I've shared all of this with you I'm going to get my drink now.

Drip

It has been raining here for a couple days now, and every time I hear the rain drops begin this song from 'Bambi' pops into my head.
Get ready, 'cause here comes share time!!

Drip, drip, drop
Little April shower
Beating a tune
As you fall all around

Drip, drip, drop
Little April shower
What can compare
To your beautiful sound
Beautiful sound
Beautiful sound
Drip, drop, drip, drop

Drip, drip, drop
When the sky is cloudy
Your pretty music
Will brighten the day

Drip, drip, drop
When the sky is cloudy
You come along with a song right away
Come with your beautiful music

Drip, drip drop
Little April shower
Beating a tune
As you fall all around
Drip, drip drop
Little April shower
What can compare with your beautiful sound

Drip, drip drop
When the sky is cloudy
You come along, come along with your pretty little song
Drip, drip drop
When the sky is cloudy
You come along, come along with your pretty little song

Gay little roundelay
Song of the rainy day
How I love to hear your patter
Pretty little pitter-patter
Helter-skelter when you pelter
Troubles always seem to scatter

Drip, drip drop
Little April shower
Beating a tune
As you fall all around
Drip, drip drop
Little April shower
What can compare with your beautiful sound

Someone like you...

August snuck up on me and then, just like that,  it left...thankfully.
You see, I'm not sure I want to repeat August and after an epic-crappy, last week that also happened to be in August I'm glad to see it go.

With that being said, I'm more than happy to welcome September and with that: Fall.

I look forward to my Pumpkin lattes from Starbucks
my jeans, sweatshirts and sweaters
movie nights cuddled up on the couch with a glass of wine (or spiced cider) with Aaron
crisp mornings and cool nights
reading a good book curled up in a fuzzy blanket
the smell of wood smoke
and
the turning of the leaves

However, with fall comes an annual melancholy.  I can't explain the strange phenomenon but I feel a little less excited about things and want to stay home, listen to some mellow music and just be.
With that being said, the above video is my current mood music or rather, my current "IT" song, songwriter and performer.
What the heck...I even like her style: the makeup, the big hair and nothing but black dresses.

Enjoy.

Since the last post on Tuesday, I've saved then deleted 3 different posts.  It appears my blog is "broken".  I can't get my blog on.  Uh-oh.

Maybe it's a side effect of jet-lag (probably not....but it's easy to blame).

AND I got sick, AGAIN and my will to do anything other than breath through both of my nostrils is all but gone.  Maybe that's it.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, I'm trying....

So while I try to figure out what to blog about next, I figured I'd share two more songs that are new to me since we heard them in the car driving around Ireland.

First one up:

Imelda May- Inside Out

She's from Dublin and I like her style.

A lot.

Then there is this one from Lykke Li- I Follow Rivers... (what is with these names?!  I love 'em!)

The video is bo-ring, but if you do something else while you listen, it's not bad.

Let there be light!*

I'm determined to make my last photo post fun (?) instead of a chore.

So, I'm going to set the mood.

"The mood for what ?", you may ask.

The mood for light bulbs.

First of all, the "mood music."  Listen to this little music ditty, won't you?

By the way I've never even heard of this song until I hit up my friend google with the words: song lyrics light bulb and BING....this is what popped up.

Believe it or not, I like the song.  A lot.

Well, let's get back to the mood I mentioned earlier.

Now for the lighting.

Are you in the mood?

Are you thinking of light bulbs as never before now?

Yeah, me neither.

Well, look at this picture then, please?  And I'll never ask you about your feelings for light bulbs ever again.

My pinkie promises.

*This was a re-post for the post "blogger" lost...so I tried to make it up to you.

The lady of Shalott..

I've been listening to the radio A LOT lately and due to that have learned of some new songs I'm luh-ving!  For those who hate country, stop reading.  For those that don't mind it, or better yet, actually like it check these out.

This first one I automatically like because it totally reminds me of the "dramatic" scene from Anne of Green Gables where she takes the boat out into the water and ends in"..the lady of Shallot."  Any-hoo, here's the equally touching and super-great video from "The band Perry":

Then there's this one from Jarrod Niemann.  I just like the sound of the harmony with the faint-girl singer (although I don't love the video).

And last but not least, a song from Glee that is awesome simply because of all the acoustic guitars:

What a wonderful world*

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
and I think to myself, what a wonderful world

I see skies of blue, and clouds of white,
bright blessed days, dark sacred nights
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

The colours of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shakin' hands, sayin' "How do you do?"
They're really saying "I love you"

I hear babies cry, I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll ever know
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

Yes, I think to myself, what a wonderful world.

*One of Aaron's favorite songs that he and his mom danced to on the day of our wedding.
