The end of the Secret Garden

I finished the Secret Garden early last week and never told you, did I?
Well, I did and feel the need to tell you that I loved it!  What a great book.....  If you haven't read it, by all means pick it up and start reading, please.  If you are not much of a reader, that is A-Okay too.  The book is nothing like the movie, but a movie I saw was just as good in its' own way.

From this book I learned several things ( new beginnings, positive attitudes, English slang...) but I've mostly learned to be obsessed with walled gardens.
The book brought to mind several gardens we saw in Ireland and even some right in our own town.
I want one.  I need one.
Gimme.
I also decided that if I ever had a child and that child decided to be a girl, the Secret Garden is a book that I would A) read to her or B) buy for her personal library because she would of course read....she would really have no choice.
(Can you tell no children are in our story?)

As soon as I finished that book I moved right on to Peter Pan, by J.M. Barrie.

So far I'm liking it even more than the Secret Garden.
It's funnier and a little more endearing than I expected it to be.

It's such a great idea to read all of these children's books. As a teacher I was ALWAYS reading kids books and wanted time for grown-up ones. But I think this is a brilliant way to plan ahead and pick out great books that will help your future children fall in love with reading :)

I'm looking forward to your future post(s) about the Peter Pan book... this was one of my favorite stories/movies growing up! I always wished I had a lil' Tinkerbell! Hmmm, I wonder if that's why I named my Kitty 'Tinkerbell'? It all makes sense now!!!
